CHIRIMEN ZAIKU and Japanese style home （ちりめん細工と和風の家）

I visited my neighbor house which is a very Japanese style home and it is rented out for events or even to stay. There was a small exhibition of CHIRIMEN crafts. CHIRIMEN is cloth of silk crepe.

In Japan, there are many different kinds of hand craft made by CHIRIMEN cloth.

You may know it from the decoration of KANZASHI (hair stick for KIMONO style). Within the pictures, you can find the entrance of Japanese home (GENKAN 玄関 where to take off your shoes and shoes box), bathtub(OFURO お風呂） made of SHIGARAKI ware, TATAMI(畳） room, TOKONOMA (床の間 alcove for Japanese style room to decorate the seasonal items) and also the room with the taste of western style as well.

The small playing cards with pictures are called HANAFUDA(花札)

Usually these cards are printed pictures not like the one in the pictures.

These playing cards have pictures of flora such as pine, Japanese apricot tree, cherry blossom, wisteria, willow, and paulownia representing the four seasons.
